Frequently Asked Questions
1.
What skin types is My Hero suitable for?
My Hero is designed for all skin types, especially sensitive, reactive, oily but dehydrated, and barrier compromised skin. It’s gentle enough for daily use, even if your skin doesn’t tolerate most other moisturisers.
2.
Can I use My Hero if I have acne-prone skin?
Yes. This formula is non-comedogenic and uses biomimetic oils (like squalane and jojoba) that won’t clog pores. It helps restore balance, soothe inflammation, and strengthen your skin barrier, all of which are beneficial for breakout-prone skin.
3.
Is this product fragrance-free?
Yes. My Hero contains no added fragrance or essential oils, making it ideal for sensitive or allergy-prone skin.
4.
Can I use it with other actives like retinol or vitamin C?
Absolutely. My Hero is barrier supportive and makes a great pairing with stronger actives. Apply it after serums to lock in hydration and reduce potential irritation from actives like retinoids, acids, or vitamin C.
5.
How do I patch test My Hero?
Apply a small amount of cream to an area of your face that’s not too sensitive, such as the side of your jawline. Wait 24 hours and check for signs of irritation like redness, burning, or stinging. If none occur, you’re likely good to go.
6.
Why does it tingle when I first apply it?
My Hero is packed with high-performance, barrier-repairing actives, including niacinamide, panthenol, sea buckthorn CO₂, hyaluronic acid, and cucumber and chamomile extracts. While each of these ingredients is gentle and well-tolerated on its own, the formula as a whole is potent and effective.
If your skin barrier is already compromised, due to over-exfoliation, dehydration, or chronic sensitivity, you may experience a mild tingling sensation upon first application. This is especially common for skin that isn’t used to active, results-driven formulations.
This sensation is typically short-lived and should fade quickly. As your skin becomes stronger and more resilient, any tingling should subside.
To avoid overstimulation, we recommend the following:
-
Always patch test before full-face use (e.g., behind the ear or along the jawline).
-
If tingling persists, use the cream once per day or every other day for the first 7–10 days.
-
Gradually increase to twice daily once your skin adjusts.
If discomfort worsens or doesn’t resolve, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist, especially if you have a diagnosed skin condition.
7.
How often should I use it?
Twice daily, morning and night, for best results.
Use it as the final step in your routine to seal in hydration and protect your barrier.
8.
Is this product vegan and cruelty-free?
My Hero is made without animal-derived ingredients and never tested on animals - including our raw materials.
9.
Where is My Hero made?
Proudly formulated and made in the UK in small batches, using high-quality ingredients with proven benefits.
10.
Can I use this under makeup or sunscreen?
Yes! It layers well without pilling or greasiness. Let it absorb for 1–2 minutes before applying makeup or SPF.
